Kentucky Educational Television signed on the air in September 1968 as Kentucky's statewide public broadcasting network. Today, KET is the largest PBS member network in America. Our 16 transmitters and four translators deliver both the PBS national schedule and our own wide range of local arts, cultural, documentary, and public affairs productions to viewers throughout Kentucky and in parts of seven surrounding states. KET is a resource for lifelong learning ... a window, a pipeline, and a magic carpet carrying students of all ages to places they've never been, introducing them to people they've never seen, and giving them experiences they otherwise would never have-thereby helping to raise the educational level of all Kentuckians and to empower them to take control of their lives. KET is an electronic town hall ... providing accurate and balanced information and promoting open dialogue about government, politics, and public affairs. KET is a cultural showcase ... celebrating the heritage of the Commonwealth and the talents of its people and exposing them to significant artistic and cultural events of the world at large. KET is a communications leader ... pioneering the effective implementation of emerging technologies in the delivery of information resources to all Kentuckians.
